Stemmerman’s Inn
Our Story
Since 1855 – A nice place to stay since 1987
The architecture’s exterior boasts one of Wilmington’s last standing Victorian facades. The interior maintains the 1886 exposed brick and beams. The furnishings in each suite are contemporary and each has central heat and air. Our common deck above the parking area has excellent views of the Cape Fear River, the battleship USS North Carolina, and the western horizon with magnificent sunsets. The 4th of July firework display viewed from our deck is grand.
Local attractions and activities are abundant. The Riverwalk is so close, virtually out the back door. There are great galleries, museums (even for children) and antique shops dotting the Historic District. One will find horse-drawn carriage rides, historic homes, unique shopping and dining (casual & formal), java shoppes, salons, consignment shops, night life and much more.
The Cape Fear Coast is one of the last and most beautiful natural seashores on the Atlantic Ocean. In the summertime take a swim in the waves, surf, body board, play and soak up a little sun. Charter boat fishing, great golf courses and tennis courts are also available. Have lunch, dinner and/or cocktails at one of the oceanfront restaurants or return to the Historic District for some great options. Like dining at a nearby restaurant or taking in a foreign film or some theatre at Thalian Hall.
