Our Story

We stayed at Stemmerman’s while we were in Wilmington for a wedding over Labor Day weekend. After shopping around for hotels, Stemmerman’s was the best priced and also the closest to the reception at Bakery 105 (literally right across the street, so convenient). We didn’t bother renting a car as everything downtown was walkable. It is super close to the riverwalk which is nice. Our suite was beautiful and clean and they thought of everything as far as amenities go. It was quiet and we never really heard the other guests or anyone outside. There are a lot of stairs, but we knew that going in and they advertise that very well before booking so that you are aware if stairs will be an issue.
But, the best part of our stay was Fran, the innkeeper. She was incredibly hospitable and just plain nice. When we arrived in Wilmington (several hours earlier than check-in) she was happy to get us in early and provided us with a wonderful rundown of Wilmington and gave us plenty of recommendations. Anytime we ran into her over the weekend, she was so friendly and really made us feel welcome. If we ever make it back to Wilmington again, we won’t even bother looking for anywhere else to stay. Stemmerman’s is the place to stay if you want to be downtown.”

Such a unique historic inn located in the heart of downtown Wilmington! Walkable to all the restaurants, shops, and bars downtown. My husband and I got married at 128 South and Bakery 105 so we rented out all the rooms at Stemmerman’s for our family and friends to stay for the weekend! It was so convenient to stay literally next door to our venue and be able to get ready there. The hospitality provided by Fran, the innkeeper, was truly exceptional! My family still talks about how amazing, friendly, and helpful Fran was! If you are hosting a wedding or event at 128 South or Bakery 105 you should most definitely book Stemmerman’s Inn as well. Or if you’re just coming to Wilmington and need a place to stay downtown this is the place to stay!!”
